Dr. Charles E. Jacobson, Jr. M.D. '31, P'71, '74

I received the William Mather Scholarship through the intervention of the Minister William Northey Jones (Trinity Class of 1888) of my church, St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Perth Amboy, NJ.
Receiving Phi Beta Kappa honors my junior year at Trinity; also receiving the Medal of Excellence (medicine) and the Eigenbrodt Trophy . I was also honored to serve on the Board of Fellows. The president at the time I attended Trinity was Dr. Remsen B. Ogilby, who was a great president and was personally involved in every student's welfare. While at Trinity I helped revive the Atheneum Debating Society and we never lost a debate. I also enjoyed being business manager of the Ivy and the Tripod.
It is difficult to choose from among Dr. Vernon K. Krieble (chemistry), Dr. Horace C. Swan (physiology), Dr. Thomas H. Bissonnette (biology), and Dr. Henry A. Perkins (physics).
I learned that Trinity's pre-medical course was among the best in the country and at that time (1931) every 7th graduate at Trinity became a physician.
Living within several miles of the campus...I return many times each year to attend reunions, athletic events, special guest speakers, etc. Two of my children graduated from Trinity - Ted in 1971 and Susan in 1974.
Books concerning evolution.
I received a scholarship which made it possible for me to attend Trinity and in return I have established a scholarship in my parents' name: the Charles and Winifred Jacobson Scholarship Fund.
