BRENTON W. HARRIES '50
I was given a scholarship in some person's name whom I don't remember but I remember seeing the stipend each semester.
Sports and trying to keep up with Joe Clark's chapel credits occupied my time.
I'll start by saying that after Trinity I attended Wharton and Columbia Law School and the U.S. Navy. I have never given anything to them. I give to Trinity because Trinity helped me when I most needed it. Money wasn't plentiful then and although we lived well, there was really little conversation about going away to school. I was a day student along with most of the rest of the college and stayed that way until I was a senior and President of AXP.
Perhaps the highlights of my career as Trustee included being Chairman of the committee that nominated Jim English for President and leading the fight to bring the College co-educational. When I was awarded the Eigenbrodt Trophy in 2000 I couldn't help but reflect on the return the College had earned on my scholarship.
I could go on about the stimulus of the professors and comradery and so many memories but I will close by saying that I raised 3 sons, none of whom chose Trinity and none of whom have exhibited anywhere near the enthusiasm I have in contributing to my alma mater.
Congratulations on all the good work you are doing!!!!
