JOSEPH ROLAND HOLSTEAD '94

I chose to attend Trinity because:
of its outstanding reputation as a small, liberal arts college with an excellent faculty, competitive athletics, and a beautiful campus.

My fondest Trinity memory:
along with playing with the great teammates on the 1993 undefeated football team, is simply sitting in my room in Jarvis or Northam Towers studying while the hustle and bustle of the campus went on outside.

My favorite Trinity professor:
was Prof. Susan Pennybacker. She cultivated my love of history, and was a great lecturer and teacher.

Something I learned at Trinity and never forgot:
was the message of Voltaire's Candide.

I remain connected to Trinity by:
friends such as Alex and Spiros Motsenigos (respectively '93 and '95), Matt Moore ('95), and a colleague and friend at work, Rute Pinhel('03), and of course Trinity athletics and by working for the Connecticut General Assembly's non-partisan Office of Legislative Research (right down the road).

Most memorable book I read while at Trinity:
In addition to the aforementioned Candide, Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell.

I give to Trinity because:
it gave so much to me, and assisting to uphold its reputation, in however small a way, only helps those of us who are affiliated with it.
