PENNY SANCHEZ '77

I chose to attend Trinity because:
I was looking for a small liberal arts College within a few hours from home. I decided that Trinity was my top choice after my visit on campus. I liked the people I met with, I thought I would be challenged academically, yet I had a great "feel" when I was on campus. During the drive home I told my parents that this was the right school for me.

My fondest Trinity memory:
I have so many memories. I don't think there is any one that stands out over the other ones. Here are a few of my fondest memories: playing varsity basketball (especially against Williams College - my sister was on their team at the same time); having a radio show as a DJ; cheerleading for football and basketball (was on the first cheerleading squad); getting A's in Political Science; pledging a sorority (Delta Sigma Theta); hanging out on "the wall"; parties at the Black House and at Mather; working at Phoenix Insurance Co.; learning and debating all aspects of our young life (in our dorm hallways)

My favorite Trinity professor:
Robin Shepard - Varsity Basketball Coach; Drew Hyland - Asst. Basketball Coach and Philosophy Professor; Rex Neaverson - Political Science Advisor

Something I learned at Trinity and never forgot:
I attribute my current religious and spiritual ideas to several classes at Trinity. I still remember the philosophy / debate on "Whether life is predestined or not?"

I remain connected to Trinity by:
Trinity represents a "learning" experience in my life and by staying connected with Trinity I still continue to learn and I view myself as a lifetime learner. Plus I enjoy staying connected with such an exceptional institution /said another way - a great "community". Finally, I would like to do my part to help the future students of Trinity, like those before me helped to make my Trinity education possible. I am currently the President of the National Alumni Associationa' Executive Board, and one of Trinity's Trustees. I also participate with the Area Club of Trinity in Chicago and in the past, with other Area Clubs, depending on where I was living.

Most memorable book I read while at Trinity:
"Working" - by Studs Terkel...I learned a lot about working in America - various occupations were discussed.

I give to Trinity because:
I'm committed to always "Giving Back" - I have the philosophy that to whom much is given, much is expected. I know the more I give the more I receive. In addition, I like to give!
