JAMES W. FLANNERY '58

I chose to attend Trinity because:
Given my background as a working class Irish kid from the Southend of Hartford, Trinity offered me a window on the world.

My fondest Trinity memory:
Singing in the Brahm's Requiem with the great Clarence Watters on the organ and Clarence "Pete" Barber conducting in the beautiful Trinity Chapel.

My favorite Trinity professor:
"Pete" Barber: I learned more over his kitchen table than I learned in the classrooms.

Something I learned at Trinity and never forgot:
That art serves life and not vice versa.

I remain connected to Trinity by:
The Trinity Reporter, reunions, friends.

Most memorable book I read while at Trinity:
"Die Dichterliebe" by Robert Schumann.

I give to Trinity because:
I want others to benefit as I did from the expansion of their intellectual, imaginative and spiritual horizons.
